Co-founder & Chairman
Carl Hartmann is a prominent, multi-award winning Australian serial entrepreneur, having co-founded Temando, Compono and Lyre’s Non-Alcoholic Spirit Co. He is an avid investor & board member/adviser to a range of leading companies around the world.
Carl co-founded his first start up Temando in response to the disconnect between the delivery experience consumers were receiving and the fulfillment capability of today’s merchants. He took Temando from an idea to one of the largest Australian technology companies, raising over $56M in funding, establishing 5 major global offices and global strategic partnerships with both carriers and technology partners. Temando was successfully acquired in a trade sale by Neopost S.A. ($1.5B Revenue French Listed Company) in 2017.
Having experienced first-hand the challenges of recruitment in a fast-growing technology company, Carl co-founded Compono. Carl understood that people are what makes a business and getting it wrong can come at a huge cost to growth, whilst getting it right can make you a unicorn. He could see the need in the recruitment industry for a platform that uses big data and science, applying unique algorithms to match candidates to role requirements would be highly beneficial to any business. Carl is passionate that Compono finds, develops and retains the right talent to ultimately save companies time and money.
Carl is also the co-founder of Lyre’s Non-Alcholic Spirit Co – an innovative beverage company using cutting edge food science, that has recreated all the major alcoholic spirits in non-alcoholic format. Lyre’s has quickly become one of the fastest growing new consumer products in the world, with distribution in Australia, NZ, USA, UK, Singapore and more.
Carl is an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the University of Queensland (top 50 global university), serves as a Non-Executive Director on several boards and has won awards including the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year Australia, Asia Pacific and global runner up.
